Connect SerpDelta to Google Search Console
How to connect SerpDelta to Google Search Console, set up Search Console if you don't have it, and troubleshoot common connection issues.
SerpDelta reads your ranking data directly from Google Search Console. This page covers how the connection works, what to do if you don’t have GSC yet, and how to fix common issues.
What is Google Search Console?
Google Search Console (GSC) is Google’s free tool that shows how your site performs in search. It tracks which queries your site appears for, your position, clicks, impressions, and CTR. SerpDelta connects to GSC and reads this data — it’s the only source we use.
Before you connect
You need three things:
- A Google account — any Gmail or Google Workspace account works
- At least one verified property in GSC — a website you’ve proved ownership of
- The right Google account — if you manage multiple Google accounts, know which one has GSC access. SerpDelta connects to whichever account you sign in with.
Tip: Not sure which account has GSC? Go to search.google.com/search-console and sign in. If you see properties, that’s the right account.
Setting up Google Search Console
If you don’t have GSC yet, setup takes about 5 minutes:
- Go to search.google.com/search-console and sign in with your Google account
- Click “Add property” — choose URL prefix (simpler) and enter your full site URL including
https:// - Verify ownership — the easiest method is the HTML tag: Google gives you a
<meta>tag to paste into your site’s<head>. Other methods: DNS record, Google Analytics, or HTML file upload - Wait for data — Google starts collecting search data immediately, but it takes 24–48 hours before meaningful data appears
Once your property is verified and has at least a day of data, you can connect SerpDelta.
For detailed instructions, see Google’s official guides:
Connecting SerpDelta
- Click any “Sign in with Google” or “Try Pro free” button on serpdelta.com
- Google’s sign-in screen appears — choose the account that has GSC access
- Grant SerpDelta permission to read your Search Console data
- You’ll see your verified properties — select the ones you want to monitor
- SerpDelta starts syncing immediately. Your first data appears within a minute.
That’s it. One connection, daily syncs from that point on. Every new account starts with a 7-day Pro trial — full access to all features, no credit card.
What SerpDelta can access
SerpDelta requests read-only access to Google Search Console. Specifically:
| Permission | What it means |
|---|---|
| Search Console read access | We can read your search performance data (queries, pages, clicks, impressions, position) |
| Profile info (name, email) | Used for your SerpDelta account — we don’t share or sell it |
What SerpDelta cannot do:
- Cannot modify your website
- Cannot change your Search Console settings
- Cannot submit or remove URLs
- Cannot access Google Analytics, Ads, or any other Google service
- Cannot read your email, files, or any data outside Search Console
Each SerpDelta account gets its own isolated database. Your data is never mixed with other users.
Revoking access
You can disconnect SerpDelta at any time:
- From SerpDelta: Go to Settings → you can reconnect with a different account, or delete your account entirely (removes all data and revokes the token).
- From Google: Go to myaccount.google.com/permissions, find SerpDelta, and click Remove Access.
Troubleshooting
”No properties found”
You signed in with a Google account that doesn’t have any verified Search Console properties.
Solutions:
- Try a different account — go to Settings → Reconnect, and sign in with the Google account that has GSC access
- Set up GSC on this account — follow the setup steps above to add and verify your site
Signed in with the wrong Google account
If you signed in with a personal Gmail but your GSC properties are on a work Google Workspace account (or vice versa):
- Go to Settings in SerpDelta
- Click Reconnect with a different Google account
- Sign in with the correct account
- Your properties will update automatically
Properties missing from the list
If some of your GSC properties don’t appear:
- Check property type — SerpDelta works with both URL-prefix and Domain properties. Make sure the property is verified (look for a green checkmark in GSC).
- Check permissions — you need to be an Owner or Full user on the property. Restricted users may not see all properties through the API. Check your access level in GSC under Settings → Users and permissions.
Data not appearing after connection
- GSC data has a 2–3 day delay. This is Google’s processing time, not SerpDelta. When you see “last 7 days,” it means the 7 most recent days Google has finalized.
- New properties need time. If you just added your site to GSC, wait 24–48 hours for Google to start collecting data. SerpDelta can only read what Google has.
- Check sync status. The sync indicator in your dashboard header shows whether a sync is in progress, completed, or failed. If it shows an error, try triggering a manual sync.
”Permission denied” or authentication errors
- Your Google OAuth token may have expired. Go to Settings → Reconnect to re-authenticate.
- If you recently changed your Google account password or enabled 2FA, you may need to reconnect.
- Make sure you haven’t revoked SerpDelta’s access in your Google account permissions.
